United Nations Language Framework Training

The United Nations Language Framework Training is a self-study course designed for UN language instructors, learning officers, programme managers and everyone who is curious about the United Nations Language Framework (UNLF).

The course is in two parts. The first one is a familiarization with the Framework components:

  • Introductory Module
  • Module 1: Discover the UNLF
  • Module 2: Learn about the UN Levels of Language Competence
  • Module 3: Learn about the Core Curriculum
  • Module 4: Learn about the Language-specific Curricula

Part 2 is a library of practical examples, applications and resources

  • UN Level I Repository
  • UN Level II Repository
  • UN Level I and II Exams

Training is hosted on CDOTS Campus, and registration is open to all UN staff. However, it is designed for those involved in language training and language skills assessment. The library of practical examples, applications and resources includes ready-to-use learning and teaching material.

The United Nations Language Framework Training is a result from the close collaboration between the CDOTS Language and Communications Training Unit in New York and the Language Training Programme in Geneva.
